Ed Tech Program

 Self-Reflection

The Ed Tech program as a whole taught me a lot of valuable information, strategies, and techniques on how I can effectively utilize technology in the classroom. Many of the strategies and topics covered gave me a better understanding of how we can continue to provide students with quality education, whether or not students are in the physical classroom or an online one. I did find it challenging to complete the weekly assignments along with the everyday demands our work requires of us. However, I value the understanding and support all our instructors consistently provided us.

The course I found most challenging was CITW with Tech. I have studied and applied all these strategies in the classroom, but most without using technology. It was at times challenging to find online resources or apps students and teachers can use that covers one or multiple of the instructional practices we covered in the course. However, through the weekly assignments, I was able to research many online resources and have found some that I am very excited to use. I believe students will not only enjoy it but would be able to effectively learn topics covered in class.

The most important thing I learned in the program is building up the necessary skill set to effectively select the right online resource/app for a specific concept or skill we are covering in class. I am familiar with many of the topics covered in the program. However, for most of it, I have only had experience traditionally. For example, using graphic organizer worksheets when analyzing a story. Now though, I know that many online resources are available and allows us to do the same thing virtually, e.g. Nearpod. Another big takeaway from the program is learning skills that help me complete my duties efficiently. One example is learning how to merge letters using Autocrat.

The Ed Tech Program has benefited me by helping me become more aware and creative when using and applying online resources or apps in the classroom. Through this program, I feel better able to provide students a quality education if we go back to remote learning. I have also learned new ways to incorporate technology into the physical classroom to provide students with quality experiences they normally wouldn't have. I am also able to execute my duties/responsibilities more efficiently.
